Predictive Safety Analysis (HSM / IHSDM)

Learn how to apply Highway Safety Manual methodologies, NCHRP and HSM tools (IHSDM) to estimate crash frequency and quantify safety benefits.

Crash Analysis & Crash Data Analytics

Work with real crash datasets to identify trends, diagnose contributing factors, and develop evidence-based safety insights and recommendations.

Traffic Volume Development

Gain practical experience in reviewing traffic data, developing and balancing traffic volumes, and applying growth projections for operational and safety analysis.

Freeway Capacity Analysis

Conduct freeway operations assessments from start to end, evaluate Level of Service, and interpret performance results.

Microsimulation with VISSIM

Learn how to build, code, and analyze microsimulation models, including calibration techniques and visualization methods for real-world problem solving.

Synchro Intersection Analysis

Set up Synchro models, optimize signal timing, and evaluate delays, queues, and intersection performance for existing and future conditions.

About The Lead Author

The lead tutor is a licensed Professional Engineer registered in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Oklahoma, and holds additional credentials including PTOE and RSP1. With more than 20 years of experience in the traffic, transportation, and roadway safety industry, he has successfully delivered engineering solutions for a wide range of public and private clients across the United States.

He earned a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering and has worked with reputable consulting firms and agencies, leading and contributing to major corridor studies, safety evaluations, planning initiatives, and operational analyses. His technical depth, combined with hands-on project experience, allows him to bring practical knowledge, mentorship and industry insight into the learning environment.
